Learn/ Train to Compete


The Learn/ Train to Compete program focuses on providing athletes with advanced canoe and kayak skills, preparing them for regional to international level competitions by developing speed, strength, power and endurance. Athletes at this level are strongly encouraged to complete at a variety of regattas. Athletes may strive to be on the Provincial Team and compete at National Championships or just love the program for the social and fitness benefits.

Who? ages 14 -25

Experience? This program is a progression from the FUNdamentals/ Train to Train

When? 6-12 practices/week, morning and/or evening practices based on time of year and program

Where? 

Depending on the program and weather and river conditions, the location of the program may vary amongst:

  • Paddlesport Dock at Bedford Channel in Fort Langley, Langley Township, BC (map)
  • Nathan Creek in Glen Valley, Langley Township, BC (map)
  • Other locations as scheduled: Fall/Winter practices include paddling when weather allows, swim practices, and other activities, such as running and/or yoga.
